Our Beliefs

God

We believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth. He has unimaginable intelligence, infinite knowledge and is all-powerful. God has authority and control over all creation, and yet desires to love us very personally as His children.

Exodus 3:14 Numbers 23:19 Leviticus 11:44-45; 19:2 Psalm 11:4-6 Malachi 3:6 John 3:16; 4:24; 5:26; 14:1 Acts 17:28 Romans 3:3-4

Jesus

We believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only son, and our Lord, was sent by God to be conceived and born of a virgin. He lived a sinless life and served as our role model for life on earth. He paid the ultimate price for our sin by sacrificing His life on the cross. It’s because of His death and resurrection from the dead that we now, through Jesus can be brought into a relationship with God. Jesus is with the Father in heaven, but will return to earth to judge the living and the dead.

The Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit is God’s presence living within each of us on earth today. He is our primary teacher, comforter and source of God’s power. The Holy Spirit convinces the world of sin and leads people to respond in faith to the Gospel message.

Genesis 1:2 Psalm 51:11; 139:7 ff. Isaiah 61:1-3 Joel 2:28-32 Mark 1:10 Luke 1:35; 4:1; 11:13; 12:12 John 15:26; 16:7-14 Acts 1:8; 2:1-4; 13:2 Romans 8:9-11, 14-16, 26-27 1 Corinthians 3:16 Ephesians 1:13-14 2 Peter 1:2 Revelation 22:17

The Bible

We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God written by human authors under the supernatural authority of the Holy Spirit.

Deuteronomy 4:1-2 Psalm 119:11, 89, 105 Isaiah 40:8 Matthew 22:29 John 5:39; 16:13-15; 17:17 Romans 15:4 2 Timothy 3:15-17 Hebrews 1:1-2; 4:12 1 Peter 1:25 2 Peter 3:16

Salvation

We believe that all people are in need of salvation; and, it’s God’s free gift to us. What does it mean to be saved and to be assured of salvation? It’s to know after feeling lost and alone, we’ve been found by God. It’s to know after feeling worthless, we’ve been redeemed and given new worth. In salvation, we become whole. Salvation happens to us, both for our present life and the eternal life promised to believers.

Baptism

We believe in baptism, which is the public acknowledgement and celebration of God’s grace, freely offered to us at birth.  We confess our sin, accept membership in the family of Christ, and vow to trust in and serve Jesus Christ. Baptism is the public sign of God’s covenant with us.

Luke 3:16 1 Peter 3:21 Romans 6:4 1 Corinthians 12:13 Acts 2:41 Acts 8:12 Acts 19:4 Acts 22:16 Colossians 2:12 John 1:33 John 3:5 Galatians 3:27 Mark 1:4 Mark 16:16 Matthew 3:16 Matthew 28:19-20 Ephesians 4:4-6 Acts 2:38-41 John 1:29-33 Acts 8:35-40 Matthew 3:11-17 Romans 6:1-18

Communion

We believe communion is a remembrance of the suffering and death of Christ and a way of drawing Christians’ focus back to the essentials of faith on a regular basis. We believe in an open table — that all who believe in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord are welcome to participate in this blessing from God.
