What is a Christian?

Luke reports that it was in Antioch that the disciples were first called Christians. (Acts 11:26) The word literally means “Christ’s ones” or “one who belongs to Christ”. Let’s dive a little deeper to explore five words that define the substance of this identity with Christ. Revelation accepted. Being a Christian involves a basic belief that the living God of the universe is revealed in and through Jesus Christ. He’s not just a spiritual man, a pious teacher or a powerful social-justice warrior. He is no less than the revelation of God on earth. “In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God…and the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.” (John 1:1, 14). Loneliness Epidemic

Even before quarantines hit us there was an accelerating epidemic of loneliness and isolation at all levels of our society. It’s ironic that in a digital culture with so many ways of connection both young and old have been reporting high rates of loneliness and depression. It does not have to be this way. Only God could answer the question and he has done so by sending his only Son into the world. “For God so loved the world that he gave his only son so that whoever believes in him might not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16) The times of ignorance are over. The question we could never answer has been answered. All the fullness of God is in Jesus Christ. 2. God lived with us in Jesus Christ. “God was in Christ reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses again
